He Makes All Things Beautiful In His Time

A couple days ago Emily woke up and ran down the stairs.  She suddenly stopped and yelled, "NO!"  Startled, I sprang out after her to see what caused her alarm.  I was shocked to see a blanket of white snow covering our lawn!  WHAAT!  Emily sat on the stairs and just whimpered "Nooooo!" in absolute despair.  I joined her as we blankly stared out the window remembering only one week ago we were playing in the sprinkler in 80 degree weather.

Somehow we managed down the stairs and I threw on my running gear.  I tried to justify with myself it was simply too slick to run outside but then saw the sidewalks were perfectly fine as I added hat and gloves my my ensemble.  I left Emily staring out the window as stepped outside.  As I began my run, I started tired, crabby, and frustrated by the snow covered lawns.

By the end of the first block, my dark mood began to lift as I noticed how quiet and peaceful the neighborhood was.  There is something magical about how a snowfall brings an extra quiet and peaceful air to the outdoors.

I breathed in the crisp air and began to notice the snow covered trees, frosted branches, and white glistening blades of grass.  I didn't want to like my run that day but I suddenly found it incredibly refreshing and peaceful.

I was reminded the magnificent imagery of snow.  The white, clean, pure blanket of snow that covers the mess below (although the green was quite pretty) and makes all things new.  I remembered how God makes all things beautiful in His time.  This snowfall lasted only a few short hours but it reminded me of the new beginnings we are gifted each day.

And I felt challenged with what to do with this new beginning.

I felt challenged to:

Start each day a bit earlier.
Begin each day with a run raining, sun, or snow
Read more
Refrain from Social Media
Do something active at 3:30/4:00 (my slump time of the day)
Find a new recipe
Journal
Pray
Spend time with Him
Meditate

All this because of something initially I thought was a big "Nooo!"  Because He makes ALL things beautiful in His time .
